6 Tips For Better Health
Better health begins with the desire to be healthy and to live a healthy, positive lifestyle. Once you make that choice, find people who will support you in your commitment. Remember to treat yourself well by taking care of yourself first. If you ever have flown in an airplane, you have heard this before, “Put on your oxygen mask first before you put on some else’s.” These six steps will be a good start for better health.

If you ever have flown in an airplane, you have heard this before, “Put on your oxygen mask first before you put on some else’s.” These six steps will be a good start for better health.
1. Avoid Refined Sugar
Step one of 6 tips for better health is to avoid refined sugar. Refined sugar causes inflammation and other negative side effects on the body. White, refined sugar weakens the immune system by stealing your white blood cell’s ability to destroy bacteria. It can also encourage addiction to eating foods devoid of vitamins, minerals and fibre.
Type 2 Diabetes is a terrible side effect to too much refined sugar in a diet. Remember, prevention is worth a pound of cure!
2. Avoid Synthetic Sugars
Fake sugars are not good for the brain or the body. Synthetic sugars contribute to acidity, a condition which leads to inflammation and the creation of fat cells to store that extra acid.
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener used as a sugar substitute in some foods and drinks. It is also sold under the brand name NutraSweet. Aspartame’s negative side effects include Methanol (wood alcohol) which is a dangerous neurotoxin and a known carcinogen. So ironically, consistent consumption of Aspartame could add to your weight.
Fake sugars affects the brain the same way sugar does and after prolonged exposure it can dampen the part the brain that will tell you when you are full. You can take a test to see if you have a sugar or food addiction.

3. Eat More Greens and Vegetables
This one is a given for good health. Vegetables boost your intake of antioxidants, B vitamins, calcium, magnesium, zinc and omega-3s.
Include: a daily serving vegetables and a daily serving of sulphur-producing vegetables such as brussel sprouts, broccoli, turnips, onions, and garlic. We recommended bright-colored berries, too. Blueberries and Red Nopal cactus juice are a powerful source antioxidants and vitamins.
Natural sources are always a good choice, but if you can’t eat a lot of vegetables or you don’t like eating them, Sea Vegetable 7 and other supplements are an excellent alternative for the essential vitamins your body needs to stay healthy.
Red Nopal cactus is an excellent source for vitamins and may help in providing natural blood sugar balance.
The herb turmeric is known for its natural ability to help fight inflammation.
4. Eat More Fermented Foods.
This one is a tough one for some people. The healthy bacteria in fermented foods like sauerkraut and Kefir can aid in absorption and assimilation of nutrients. These foods also help reduce sweet cravings (and when you do indulge, fermented foods help digest the sugars), but most people don’t like the taste of fermented food, so there are alternative supplements and natural herbs that can provide the same benefits. Turmeric and ginger are a wonderful alternative and can easily be added to your diet.
5. Log Your Food Intake.
This is the best way to make yourself aware of what you are eating. Write down what you eat every day and when you eat it. There are apps that can help you track your food intake. We are all busy and sometimes we will eat out of convenience or in a rush, so a log makes us aware of what we eat and how much we consume. It is a good habit to start the New Year with, too, and once it becomes a habit, you will most likely stick to it. Awareness is the half the battle.

6. Join Activity Groups & Have Fun Exercising
The last step of the 6 tips for better health in our opinion is the best step for better health. Find a group of people who share your desire to be healthy and stay active. There are a lot of activity groups on Facebook and Meet Up. Make new connections and exercise at the same time. You are more likely to exercise and stay fit if you surround yourself with like minded people. Plus, if you have a commitment to others to show up at an event or gathering, you most likely will. Hiking with friends or join a local walk/running community where you can socialize and exercise at the same time. These events are also free.
